Our hearts sank when my partner and I learned that our cat, Slipper had FIV. We had no clue what that was, and after some explanation from the vet, we learned that Slipper would have FIV for his entire life.

Slipper got his name because every time we took him in, he would plop himself down on our feet to let us know he wanted food. He got what he wanted, and nearly 12 years later, he’s still going strong. Over the years, I came up with different nicknames. Most of them came from funny little songs I would make up, and then they just stuck.

This small zine contains a few of those nicknames along with some illustrations of Slipper in various poses. I’ve also included a few facts pulled from the VCA Hospitals website about FIV.
